BAGUIO SDG TRACKING PROGRESS TOOL
The 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) was adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in September 2015 which aims to form an action plan to free humanity from poverty and create programs and projects to the road to sustainability.
The Philippines as a member of the United Nations is committed to achieving the SDGs. With 17 targets and 244 indicators, the SDGs require the concerted effort of several government agencies in tandem with local government units to be able to implement and successfully achieve these goals;
The SDGs provide the framework for achieving social, economic and environmental development to achieve prosperity for all and lasting peace which are enshrined in the country’s development plan from 2016-2022 and the longer-term Ambisyon Natin 2040.
JVOFI as IISD’s partner in the Philippines partnered with the City of Baguio as the area for the implementation of the project to achieve the following objective:
“To establish a customized CIS Portal based on the Tracking-Progress Tool and hosted by IISD as part of the Tracking Progress Network. The purpose of the CIS Portal is to enable the LGU of Baguio to use local data to track progress towards community wellbeing in the context of the SDGs.”
